HUUB welcome Alex Yee to their sponsored athlete roster

Leading triathlon brand HUUB today announced a new addition to their family of sponsored athletes. Alex Yee is a talented young triathlete and member of the Word-Class Performance Squad, based in Leeds. As well as recently representing Great Britain in triathlon, he has also represented his country in athletics, running the 10,000m at the 2018 European Championships.

In his debut ITU World Triathlon Series (WTS) race in Abu Dhabi, the track superstar placed second in the Elite Men’s race, only beaten by world champion Mario Mola. At age 21 most world-class triathletes are still racing in the U23 category! It was an extremely competitive opener to the 2019 triathlon season with Olympic qualifying on all the athlete’s minds, and a record number of all the Worlds top-ranked Olympic distance athletes present. Coincidently, fellow HUUB athlete Tom Bishop, also representing Great Britain earned the silver medal at this race two years ago.

Alex Yee commented on the new partnership, “There is a strong connection with HUUB in Leeds, and as soon as I tried the Brownlee Agilis Wetsuit, I knew it was the suit I wanted to wear. The shoulders are super flexible, and the buoyancy perfect for me helping with my swim technique. The fact that HUUB offered to make me a made to measure suit showed their commitment to me”.

Dean Jackson, HUUB Founder and Owner, added, “We are delighted to welcome Alex to the HUUB athlete roster. I have been helping him behind the scenes for a few years now, and it is great to have him wearing our wetsuit and goggles. We are extremely excited to see what Alex’s first full WTS season brings as he is already a serious contender”.

He’ll be racing in good company because fellow HUUB GB athletes Jonny Brownlee, Tom Bishop, Jess Learmonth, Georgia Taylor-Brown, and Sophie Coldwell are regulars on the ITU WTS circuit, as well as a large number of HUUB’s notable international triathlete squad.

This weekend Yee will be in Yokohama racing the star-studded third round of the World Triathlon Series. The course has a strong resemblance to the Tokyo 2020 course, both in terrain and conditions, so many governing bodies are including Yokohama in their selection criteria for the 2020 Olympic Games.
