What is Ultraman?

Ultraman is an endurance triathlon that takes place over three days. The event is modelled on the race that takes place on the Big Island of Hawaii, now known as the Ultraman World Championship.

The race totals 515km (320-mile). Stage one consists of a 10km swim (6.2-mile) followed by a 145km (90-mile) cross-country bike ride. Stage two is no less demanding with a 276km (171.4-mile) cycle stint. A 84km (52.4-mile) double marathon concludes the race.

An incredible feat of endurance, with each stage required to be completed within 12 hours.

Official Ultraman events for 2025 include Ultraman Florida (February 14-16), Ultraman Arizona (March 21-23), Ultraman Canada (July TBA) and Ultraman Mexico (October 17-19). The World Championship takes place in Hawaii on November 28-30.

Entry to the races is by invitation only and limited to between 40-50 for each race. Triathletes are selected through criteria related to performance and character. Each competitor is required to work with a two to four man support team with a single support vehicle.

One percent better

Nikic lives by the one percent better mantra – focusing on getting a little bit better every day. He now boasts one of the most impressive resumés of any endurance athlete.

The 25-year-old is a Guinness Book Record Holder, Special Olympics, IRONMAN and Laureus Global Ambassador, a 2-time ESPY Award winner. He has inspired countless disabled athletes across the globe to compete in various sports.

2025 is set to be another trailblazing year for Chris Nikic, as he inspires others to push their limits.
