British Paralympic medalist Claire Cashmore has been shortlisted by the Sunday Times for an award which recognises her achievements as an outstanding performer in a disability sport.

The Sunday Times Citi Disability Sportswoman of the Year Award will be judged by Paralympic greats such as Lauren Steadman MBE, Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE and Ellie Simmonds OBE, with the winner set to be announced on November 2.

The awards, which have been recognising and celebrating the incredible contributions of women in sport for the past 36 years, celebrate athletes from grassroots to elite sports, with the public also able to vote for their favourites via the following link.

Celebrating a phenomenal season

Having finished on the podium at each of her six events so far this season, Cashmore will certainly be happy with her form as she prepares for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris next summer, where she will be competing in the PTS5 category.

This year, the Brit started her season with a brilliant European Championship title in Madrid, before going on to win the World Triathlon Para Cup A Coruna a month later.

On home turf in Swansea, Cashmore was second behind American Grace Norman at the World Triathlon Para Series, before again finishing as the runner-up behind the Rio Paralympic Champion at the Paris Paralympic Test Event.

After picking up a British title in Eton Dorney, Cashmore was second at the World Para Championships in Pontevedra two weeks ago and will line up for her next race this weekend at the World Triathlon Para Cup in Alhandra, Portugal.
