After a brilliant first race of the season at the Miami T100, where India Lee shocked favourite Lucy Charles-Barclay to take the win, the women’s start lists for the Singapore T100 have been released by World Triathlon.

With 12 contracted athletes choosing to miss the race, over half of the field is made up of wildcards which will add an additional layer of excitement to the race on April 13-14.

Former IRONMAN World Champion Chelsea Sodaro, coming off the back of a big wins at IRONMAN 70.3 Tasmania and IRONMAN New Zealand, will be one of the in-form athletes coming into the race.

LCB chasing a first T100 win

Having come up just short in Miami after leading for much of the race, Charles-Barclay will be more motivated than ever to pick up her first win over the 100km distance in Singapore.

Last year, the PTO Tour Asian Open was the only race LCB didn’t pick up a podium, with the Brit finishing fifth just six weeks before she won the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona.

Up against a tough field in Asia, the Londoner will have her work cut out however. PTO World #2 Ashleigh Gentle, the defending champion, will open up her season in Singapore.

Lee will also return to racing buoyed by her huge win in Florida, with Sodaro the only other athlete from the PTO Rankings Top 10 making the trip, as a number of top contracted athletes choose to sit this one out.

Wildcards look to make a mark

Of the 12 wildcard athletes set to race the women’s event next month, four return from Miami, with Lucy Buckingham, Haley Chura, Kaidi Kivioja and Pamella Oliveira all given a shot to establish themselves further in the series.

From the Asia-Pacific region, Ellie Salthouse and Rebecca Clarke will look to impress, with Dutch duo Lotte Wilms and Els Visser also given starting slots.

Anne Reichsmann of Germany has some big shoes to fill for Deutschland, with PTO World #1 Anne Haug missing, but judging by her previous performances over the 100km distance will do a fine job.

Finally, Jocelyn McCauley, who was third earlier this month at IRONMAN New Zealand, was tenth in Singapore last year and makes her sixth appearance on the PTO/T100 Tour.
