IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai through the eyes of Kimberley Morrison

Friday’s IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai features several British female Pro athletes hoping to open their 2017 season with a strong result in the United Arab Emirates.

Alongside Emma Pallant and Lucy Charles, Kimberley Morrison (www.kimberleymorrison.co.uk) is the third British Elite athlete who will be taking on a strong early season field. The winner of IRONMAN 70.3 Buenos Aires last year, Kimberley is going to provide a diary of events leading up to, and then reporting back on her race. Here is part one.

#1 IM703 Dubai – Airport Day!

Three days out from race day and it’s the beloved Airport day!

However no early alarms, last minute panicking, long queues or delays.. the day was like any other (and that’s how I like to keep things leading into a race.. nice and simple, nothing new).

I had a morning of coaching in the Endless Pool and spent mid-morning training and enjoying a freshly prepared bulgur wheat salad for lunch. Ben, my husband, picked me up from home after lunch and we were off to the airport.. picking Mum and Dad up from work en route.

The night flight was most welcome and I enjoyed a few tears whilst watching “Homeward Bound” the Disney movie and getting some sleep.

Onwards to Dubai…
