Four former IRONMAN World Champions headline the men’s field for Kona on Saturday 10 October – but defending champion Casper Stornes will be missing after a training crash ended his hopes of retaining the title.
Gustav Iden, Kristian Blummenfelt, Sam Laidlow and Patrick Lange are all set to line up as the men and women race together on the same day in Kona for the first time since 2019.
They face a host of challengers, including Magnus Ditlev and Kona newcomers Marten Van Riel, Vincent Luis and Pierre Le Corre.
Below is the men’s professional start list in bib-number order. We’ll keep this page updated between now and race day, with any further withdrawals marked in the table.
Who is racing in Kona?
Iden wears M2, with fellow Norwegian Blummenfelt M3. Both have won the world title, although Blummenfelt’s victory came in St George rather than Hawaii.

Laidlow, the 2023 champion in Nice, races with M5, while three-time Kona winner Lange wears M6 for what is set to be his final IRONMAN World Championship appearance.
Van Riel has M4 for his Kona bow (he was fourth in Nice last year), with Jonas Schomburg M7.
Britain’s representatives are Cameron Main, wearing M12, and Kieran Lindars, M25. Other familiar names include Sam Long, Rudy von Berg, Cam Wurf and Daniel Bækkegård.
Who withdrew before race week?
The biggest absence is Casper Stornes, who was due to wear M1 after leading a Norwegian podium sweep in Nice last year.
He was ruled out after a training crash in Kona, suffering a broken collarbone and a fracture in his lower back when a gust of wind caught his front wheel.

Arthur Horseau, originally assigned M11, and Rasmus Svenningsson, M16, have also withdrawn. Neither is included in the active field below.
Which other notable names are missing?
Jelle Geens did not secure a place after a difficult full-distance debut at IRONMAN Texas and injury disrupted his qualification plans.
Lionel Sanders is another popular name missing after failing to qualify, while Rico Bogen has opted to leave his Kona ambitions for the future.
Our full qualification round-up explains how the field took shape.
