It’s safe to say that Sunday 5th October 2025 is a day that Jeanne Lehair will never forget.
After a run of misfortune in previous Supertri races in her home town of Toulouse, the stars aligned perfectly this time.
She not only won the race but also the overall individual title and the teams prize – and then at the prizegiving presentation her boyfriend Nathan Lessmann stepped on stage and got down on one knee with a marriage proposal!
The answer was ‘yes’ – or ‘oui’ – but back to the race action and Lehair won a thrilling battle with Podium Racing teammate Léonie Périault to prevail by three seconds, with the pair also filling first and second in the overall standings.
Jess Fullagar was third on the day, just ahead of fellow Brit Georgia Taylor-Brown – though fourth place for her was good enough to get her onto the overall podium behind Lehair and Périault.
Stage 1
The rain that had hit at the end of the men’s race had stopped by the time the women lined up on the pontoon.
It was 17-year-old Fanni Szalai who led to the first buoy and she maintained that advantage into T1 to collect the first short chute for Brownlee Racing.
The title situation at the start was that a win for Lehair or Périault would give them the overall crown, while Taylor-Brown and Jolien Vermeylen needed a few other things to go their way.
And after the swim Lehair was second at +2s, GTB a fraction behind her, Vermeylen fifth at +3s and Periault ninth at +10s
Onto the bike and Taylor-Brown knew she had to be aggressive so chipped off the front and was quickly five seconds clear of Lehair and Szalai in second and third respectively.
However it all came back together and it was Fullagar who was into T2 first to snatch the second short chute for Brownlee Racing – they could only use one but at least it prevented the other teams from getting it.
On the run, as we’ve seen so often this season, Lehair moved to the front but all the Championship contenders were in the mix.
Lehair took the short chute, Fullagar was right behind, Periault was now third at +4s alongside Taylor-Brown, with Vermeylen fifth at +11s right next to Szalai. The rest meanwhile were already 30 seconds and more adrift.
Stage 2
It stuck together on the second swim but Taylor-Brown lost ground getting on the bike coming out of transition and suddenly the front group of six were split into two threes.
Fullagar, Lehair and Vermeylen led the way, with five seconds back to Taylor-Brown who was alongside Périault and Szalai.
But by the end of the bike they were altogether and that’s how it stayed on the run, setting things up perfectly.
There was a big decision coming up for Podium Racing boss John Anthony as to whether Lehair or Périault would get their short chute.
He went for Lehair, explaining that he’d decided beforehand that if that situation arose, whoever won the short chute would be given it. Meanwhile Tim Don went for Vermeylen for Brownlee Racing.
Stage 3
So diving into the water for the last time it was perfectly poised.
The front six were so far ahead that eliminations (via the 90 seconds rule) were happening all over the place.
And there was drama exiting the water when first Périault and then Vermeylen seemed to drop their swim caps and had to retrieve them to avoid a penalty.
But the bike saw a front group of four – Fullagar, Lehair, Périault and GTB – put nine seconds between themselves and Vermeylen, with Szalai now a little further back.
Lehair wasted no time in powering to the front on the run and remember she had the short chute.
Or did she? For whatever reason she somehow didn’t take it but by then she was already a handful of seconds clear of Périault and thankfully it made no difference.
She crossed the line in triumph to complete a clean sweep of race, overall and team titles – and her day was about to get even better.

Périault was second, Fullagar an impressive third, GTB fourth and Vermeylen fifth.
Szalai was sixth at +31s, with Zuzana Michalickova the only other finisher at +2:14.
Post-race reaction
“I’m almost more relieved than happy,” admitted Lehair afterwards. “I mean I’m super happy but I think when I crossed the line I was like ‘amen’ and ‘finally’.
“And winning the overall title too – finally it’s a happy ending.”
Little did she know, but it was about to get even happier.
