The WTCS Grand Final in Torremolinos for Elite Women delivered all the expected drama on Saturday, and then some.

Eventually it was France’s Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand who added a world title to her spectacular 2024 CV, and she did so in astonishing style.

After heading in the wrong direction on the swim, Beaugrand was 48th of 48 athletes in the early going, but staged a sensational rally to get back in touch before outrunning Beth Potter and Emma Lombardi for a famous victory.

The result was only confirmed after a protest by the British Triathlon Federation around the role of the safety jetski and whether they helped guide Beaugrand back on course.

The other standout performance of the day came from Britain’s Vicky Holland – the 2016 Rio medallist finishing fourth after a superb performance to close out her professional career. What a way to go out.

We have all the details of how things went down in Spain on Saturday, with the full finishing order and times.
