Shoe Question of the Month: July Posted on: Friday 20th July 2007 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment It's racing season and we just love our racing flats -- but can we love them too much? My racing flats are so comfy when I race. Is it advisable to wear a different pair when I train? Racing flats are generally much lighter than everyday training shoes. To make them lighter they've had most of the features stripped out of them. Cushioning and stability technologies all add to the weight of a shoe. Therefore, a racing flat will not have the cushioning and support offered by a training shoe, so won't give you the injury protection of a shoe designed to get you through your miles. Most people can get away with the reduced protection of a racing shoe for the relatively short time they are racing, but for running your training miles, having a shoe which provides the right amount of stability for YOUR running style is just about the most important step you can take for injury prevention. ![]() 0 comments | Post a comment |
