![]() Review: Triathlon Techniques in Action Posted on: Thursday 7th February 2008 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment Just before Christmas we mentioned that Steve Trew had a new DVD coming out and we've been watching it for a couple of days now. No stranger to the camera, Steve has produced a companion to his Triathlon: a training manual book which came out a year or so ago from the same publisher, Crowood Press. The DVD starts with a sequence filmed at Dorney Lake, they chose one of the F3 events last summer so there are a lot of familiar faces to spot, and then breaks the sport down into the usual segments; swimming, cycling, running, transitions and core conditioning. As well as the Dorney sequences there are others filmed at coaching sessions and the swim section features Swim for Tri's Dan Bullock in an Endless Pool. It's all good, solid informative stuff and would make excellent viewing for anyone in their first or second year of triathlon who is looking to develop their technique. All the sessions are easy to follow and there is very little in the way of sports science jargon which makes it easy to follow. While the majority of the DVD is going to be most welcomed by beginners, there are sections in here that will apply to a broader audience. We are thinking here of triathletes who don't have access to a coach and are looking to move up to standard distance or even to middle distance racing. The swim sessions are going to work across the board and the more advanced turbo and run sessions also have a wider appeal. We wouldn't go so far as to say that this DVD is packed with advanced techniques, it isn't, but it does have enough meat in it to left it well above the level of a basic introduction. Tri247 says: Well worth a watch or two and this may be the only time you'll see Steve on camera and not hear him say the (now legendary) words: "defining moment"! ![]()
