Can anyone stop the mighty Wellington?! Double Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington continued her unbeaten domination of Ironman racing by defending her title at the Country Energy Ironman Australia this morning (UK time), in another course record and sun-nine hour time. That makes it Ironman win six, following Korea, Kona (twice), Germany plus the two Aussie wins - all less than two years since her debut in Korea. As we revealed yesterday, Michellie Jones was a DNS due to illness. Rebekah Keat did her best to take on Chrissie, losing 'only' nine minutes on the bike, but - not surprisingly - couldn't make a dent into that lead on the run, against a lady who just never seems to get tired...

Frenchman Patrick Vernay went one better than Chrissie, for a three-peat performance - his third consecutive title at Port Macquarie in a tough battle with Aussies Pete Jacobs and Tim Berkel.

Pos Men Women
1 Patrick Vernay (FRA) 8:24:55 Chrissie Welington (GBR) 8:57:10
2 Pete Jacobs (AUS) 8:29:03 Rebekah Keat (AUS) 9:21:33
3 Tim Berkel (AUS) 8:31:43 Caroline Steffen (SUI) 9:38:44
