OWS 220 Swim Series race #4 Posted on: Friday 30th July 2010 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment Paula Stannard reports from last night's OWS 220 Swim Series at Little Marlow. Last night saw the penultimate OpenWaterSwim.co.uk 220 Swim Race and yet again the weather was wonderful and there was a great turnout. It was the 750m swimmers who took to the luke warm waters of Westhorpe Water Sports Centre in Little Marlow and off in blistering speed, with Josh McDonough at the helm. Even after a slight off course diversion Josh was leading the field and finished first in a time of 10:12. It was then a nail biting finish for second place between Jordon Sexton and Paige Parsons, Jordon just got the touch in 11:10 and Paige in 11:11. The second lady home was Sonia Spearing from the Met Police Tri Club in a time of 11:55. The next race was the 1500m and yet again Richard Stannard went traditional (non wetsuit) but it was Gary Dressell who took the lead and finished in a time of 17:39 followed by Paul Hare in 18:01 and Richard following in 18:07 the third official male home was none other than Olympian Adrian Moorhouse in a time of 19:52, it's a bit different from a pool! For the ladies it was our resident supergirl Lauren Parson who finish first in a time of 18:04. Charlotte James and Joanna Davies were second and third in times of 20:27 and 21:12 respectively. Alan Beggs won the men's traditional category in a time of 28:45 and in the age group categories Adrian Moorhouse and Lesley Burchett took the 40+ title in 19:52 and 22:39, Paul Hare the 50+ and Nick Toeman was the 60+ winner in a time of 30:54. A special mention goes to Jolene Goodridge who six months ago at the age of 44 could not swim but last night swam the 1500m in a time of 36:52 - Very well done Jolene. It was then the turn of the 3.8km swimmers with quite a number of non wetsuit swimmers, in fact after a great swim by Mat Baker who finished first in a time of 50.26 it was Simon Joyce and Andrew Martin both non wetsuit swimmers who finished second and third in 52:55 and 52:59. In the ladies field it was Darby Driscoll who won in a time of 57:36 followed by Kirsty Harvey and Andrea Allocco in 1:05:17 and 1:06:01 respectively, and Ann Chance won the ladies non wetsuit category in a time of 1:10:59. We hope you all enjoyed your evening and hope to see you for the final race of the series on 12th August when the series winners will be announced and the prize draw for the Projext X wetsuit will be held.
