Ultra-endurance athlete passes away at 37 years of age

Very sad news here that has been brought to our attention of the death of Chris Stirling, a familiar feature at many extreme triathlon’s around the UK and indeed the world.

Chris won the Wasdale Triathlon in 2014, was a winner of the Celtman Extreme Scottish Triathlon in 2017 and won the Canadaman Xtri the same season. In 2018 he was 8th at the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon and broke the course record for the Brutal Triathlon in North Wales – just a snapshot of a few of the events that were so integral to his life.

Included here is the Facebook post from the team at the Celtman who knew him so well – an event he raced at many times – a tribute to an athlete who was far more than a race winner to those that knew him.

Sincere condolences from the TRI247 team to the friends and family of Chris at this very difficult time.
