Georgia Taylor-Brown continues her “year off” by racing Supertri Toronto this weekend and that’s set to be followed by: “Some T100s, a road bike race, the British Gravel Champs and maybe a French Grand Prix.”
The most decorated female Olympic triathlete made her return to swim, bike and run recently when 14th at WTCS Hamburg and while she’s now back racing, it’s still a relatively relaxed year at the start of the new Olympic cycle – and with no set targets. Indeed her triathlon future isn’t mapped out beyond the next few months.
She says Hamburg will be her only WTCS event this year and in an in-depth interview with Chelsea Burns on the ‘Chasing The Burn’ podcast, she revealed her current mindset.
‘I want a little bit more’
Reflecting first on Hamburg, she said: “I did love Hamburg and enjoyed being there – but when I was there I wasn’t itching to get back to WTCS.
“And maybe that’s just because I’m not fit enough and competitive enough right now so maybe if I get back into some proper training again then I will want to be there and I hope that comes back.
“And if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. That’s when I know I can call it a day and I can be happy with the career I’ve had but there’s always still going to be that ‘I want a little bit more’ because we all do.
“And I think I’d want to go out on a bit of a high – 14th at Hamburg isn’t the way I want my triathlon career to end.”

Won’t go to LA ‘for the sake of it’
And GTB reiterated that the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 is still very much in her thoughts as she looks to add to an individual silver from Tokyo as well as Mixed Team Relay gold and bronze medals.
She explained: “For me to be satisfied and walk away I want to go for one more Games and I would obviously love to win.
“So right now I want to go to LA but I haven’t missed the races or thought I’d really love to be there.
“And I need that feeling to come back if I do want to go for LA because I don’t want to go for the sake of it.”

70.3 Worlds a possibility
But back to the current season and enjoying racing is the primary aim in 2025 – as well as Supertri, GTB makes her T100 debut in London in early August and also plans to fit in another road bike race, the British Gravel Championships and potentially a French Grand Prix triathlon.
That all means a busy spell and she added: “I think there’s actually a period where I’ve got six or seven weekends on the trot so let’s see how that goes!
“It’s nice to have this year off but also still race and be involved.”
She rounded off 2024 with an impressive victory in her first middle-distance race – IRONMAN 70.3 Bahrain, when partner Vincent Luis also won the men’s race.
And that means that the 70.3 Worlds in Marbella in November could also be added to the schedule: “I’ve qualified for the 70.3 Worlds so maybe I’ll be there.”
