IRONMAN World Championship at Kona: Qualifiers for 2024 showdown in Hawaii

More than 50 Pro men have qualified to do battle on the 'Big Island' - here are all the details.

We are a little over a month away from the 2024 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona as the best Pro men in the sport return to the ‘Big Island’ to do battle.

It is now almost two years since Norwegian great Gustav Iden repelled Sam Laidlow and compatriot Kristian Blummenfelt to claim glory in Kona, the last time the iconic race was held there.

Laidlow would claim the title of the best long-course triathlete around last September when the race moved to Nice on the French Riviera. Now though is it back in the sport’s spiritual home, and we have a fantastic showdown in prospect.

Laidlow heads a star-studded list

The field is headed by Laidlow defending his title, while the men he shared the podium with in 2022 – Blummenfelt and Iden – are back on the start line in Hawaii.

‘No Limits’ himself, Canada’s Lionel Sanders, provides more box-office appeal as he bids to finally win the biggest one of all. Danish superstar Magnus Ditlev meanwhile should provide more fearsome opposition alongside two-time Kona winner Patrick Lange. So let’s run down just who has qualified for the big race on October 22.

And remember, this is not the start list, just the athletes who did qualify.
