This time last weekend Pierre Le Corre and Florian Angert were first and second respectively at the Long Distance World Championship in Samorin.

And now both are focussed on taking on the world’s best at the PTO US Open in mid-September and Kona in October.

Le Corre produced a splendid performance, particularly on the run, to earn success in Slovakia and is now eyeing the lucrative PTO US Open that takes place in Dallas on 18 September.

“I really like this distance,” expressed the Frenchman who has thrived in shorter formats for much of the year.

“I really want to try to make a start at the PTO Tour, I will see if I can make it but otherwise I’ll try to stay at the Olympic distance too, I want to do both.”

Runner-up Angert also stated his intention to race in Texas as he gears up for an assault on the IRONMAN World Championships in October.

“It’s all about the build up to Hawaii,” explained Angert who finished fifth in the rescheduled 2021 IMWC at St George in May.

“I want to be in top shape there and I will race at the US Open in the middle of September on my way to Hawaii.”
