If you fancy a bit of open water swimming then you'll probably be interested, and amazed, by the challenge that Mark and Richard Walsh have set themselves. Starting at 3am on Saturday 4th August on the shore of Lake Windermere, Mark and Richard will begin the Lakes Long Distance Swim Challenge to raise money in order to buy Guide Dogs for the Blind a tandem. This will enable them to take a visually impaired athlete on their Le Tour Challenge [In The Tyre Tracks of Champions] and future events.

The challenge comprises of them swimming 11 major lakes and waters (classified as more than a mile) in the Lake District National Park, back-to-back and non-stop. The total distance is 50 miles which they plan to achieve in 48 hours (hopefully). To their knowledge this has never been attempted before, probably for a good reason, and they have applied for a Guinness World Record.

The guys would greatly appreciate any help in achieving their fundraising total, you can donate through their JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/LakesSwimChallenge and we believe that they will also be auctioning off the two wetsuits that have been supplied by 2XU.
