Bike of the Race: Jozsef Major Posted on: Saturday 18th April 2009 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment It’s a fact, triathletes love kit! And nothing gets more discussed, considered, argued about and drooled over than bikes. We love bikes too, so we thought we'd bring you the second in our 2009 series of ‘Bike of the Race’. There are no rules involved – you may be the fastest or the slowest in your age group. You may even be an elite athlete. You could be riding the most ‘bling’ bike available, a rare Italian thoroughbred or an old shopper (with basket attached…). Or, we might just like you! As always, our Tri247 staff will be out and about all over the country (well, the world actually!), so if you get a tap on the shoulder and asked for a photo – be nice to us, and smile! Now this is an interesting story! Ironman China takes place tomorrow (Sunday 19th April), and Hungarian Jozsef Major's bike has been everywhere but in China... Steph Cox takes up the story: "His bike went the wrong way round the world, despite being shipped from Hungary two weeks ago it ended up in LA on Friday. A Hong Kong based bike store, Tri Sports, a big supporter at Ironman China, originally stepped up with one their staff's time trial Orbea for him to borrow. Argon, Joszef's bike sponsor then sent someone from the factory with a brand new bike to the same specs as his old one. At 2pm his bike assembly was completed in the race village with the help of Kent Wong and his team from TriSports and then Joszef was off to test it on a borrowed turbo! (heavy rain here around lunch time, forecast is much better for tomorrow). He has to have it checked in at transition by 5pm. Joszef is looking much much happier now, and is still confident that he can have a good race here in China. Rasmus Henning mentioned Major as one of his main competitors, along with Tim Marr. Special thanks to Argon 18, the bike was sent from New Sheng Yang Enterp. Co, Taiwan. Thanks to New Sheng Yang and his team, especially to Schumy, he brought the bike here to Haikou this morning. And thanks to Kent Wong and his team from TriSports Hong Kong Limited. They fixed the bike very-very quickly."
