Para Triathlon (Friday 27th November)

Para athletes are the true superheroes of our sport. Not only do they compete in the same gruelling races, they do so with the additional challenges of their disability. Anyone who has seen the Paralympics or watched Rising Phoenix will know that para sport can be even more gripping and inspiring than ‘able-bodied’ equivalent.

But how do para athletes get started, develop in the sport, and how easy is it for coaches, clubs and event organisers to include everyone, whatever their needs?  Maybe you have recently suffered an accident and think your sporting life is over.  Maybe you are a young person thinking that you will never be able to participate in sport in the same way as your classmates.  Or perhaps you are a coach or event organiser who thinks that para sport is great in principle, but that there is no way you could enable all athletes to take part.

Tune in to Neuff Red’s para triathlon live chat to be inspired and learn practical tips.

Neuff Red Back Friday

Team GB Paratriathlete Steve Crowley and British Triathlon Paratriathlon Head Coach Bex Milnes will be chatting about all the opportunities of para sport, and how it doesn’t have to be as difficult as it might appear. Friday 27th November, 6.30pm LIVE on the Neuff Red Instagram

Off Season (Saturday 28th / Sunday 29th November)

The clocks have turned back, the mud guards have gone on and the TT bikes and race wheels have been put on the turbo ready to weather the winter storm. Is it just us, or is that a sign to take an end-of-season break?

Love it or hate it, a “post season break” and “off season” are a crucial part of an athlete’s training cycle each year to ensure they can keep progressing and making improvements.  Without a proper recovery period, your progress usually hits a wall sooner or later – (and in our experience, usually sooner!)

So – after a week or so away from training whilst allowing yourself to rest and recover (mentally and physically), you can start off-season training then build up to base training in Spring 2021 with a fully recovered, revitalized, healthy body and a fully motivated mind!

BUT this is not a normal year- this is 2020.

Whilst Virtual Racing, Time Trials and Run events might have kept you busy enough over summer, for most of us the ‘season’ really never got started!  In which case, we hear you ask- “Should I have an off-season break, even though I didn’t have a season?!”  A very interesting and tricky question to answer. That is why we have bought in the team to figure out what to do….

Ask the Pros on Saturday 28th November 6.30pm as Laura Siddall, Nikki Bartlett and Claire Cashmore chat on Zoom about how 2020 has affected them, their approach to winter racing and what’s important about the off-season.

Neuff Red Back Friday

Ask the Expert on Sunday 29th November 6.30pm as Claire Fudge of 4th Discipline Nutrition discusses off-season body composition, weight and nutrition, and how your approach to food should change with the seasons. LIVE on the Neuff Red Instagram
