Matt Hauser has battled adversity right from the start of the Super League Triathlon Championship Series.

Out of luck

He was incorrectly penalised for a false start in the very first swim in London, with Eagles manager Tim Don saying mid-race that his outright hopes were in danger of going up in smoke.

But Hauser fought back superbly to take a fantastic second place.

Roll on to Munich and the Aussie went one better as he powered clear on the final run to break the tape first.

That gave him a narrow lead at the top of the standings from New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde and we looked set for a classic duel between the pair.

But this crash led to his early elimination in Malibu and now he has it all to do – but stranger things have happened in Super League so be sure to tune into round four from Toulouse on Sunday.
