Simone Mitchell and Arnaud Guilloux took the overall Pro wins at IRONMAN Wales on Sunday, which you can read about (HERE) and you can still go back and re-watch all of the live coverage from the event too (HERE).

This piece is a follow-up, focussed on the Age-Group athletes, highlighting the fastest overall athletes plus all of the Age-Group winners.

This includes, with great thanks once again to Huw Fairclough (www.huwfaircloughphotography.co.uk)/ IRONMAN, podium images from all of the prize presentations on Monday.

FEMALE

1st – Victoria Best (GER) – 10:38:28 – AG 30-34
2nd – Nicola Beck (GBR) – 11:03:41 – AG 45-49
3rd – Livia Mendes (BRA) – 11:25:47 – AG 35-39
4th – Laura Rothwell (GBR) – 11:29:57 – AG 25-29
5th – Christina Paulus (GER) – 11:31:20 – AG 30-34

Germany’s Victoria Best was a clear winner in the Age-Group race, more than 25 minutes ahead of Great Briain’s Nicola Beck. Ninth quickest in the water, she was first onto the run course before an impressive 3:22:14 marathon pull away from the field.

MALE

1st – Nathan Ford (GBR) – 9:36:34 – AG 35-39
2nd – Daniel Braun (GER) – 9:42:33 – AG 35-39
3rd – Gonzalo Fuentes (ESP) – 9:44:20 – AG 25-29
4th – Patrick Wightman (GBR) – 9:44:23 – AG 30-34
5th – Ben Webeck (AUS) – 9:44:41 – AG 35-39

Another great race from Nathan Ford. He was the fastest British amateur this year at Challenge Roth (where he also made the podium), and improved by 30 minute on his Tenby time from 2017, where he finished fourth in his category.

Among the full list of Age-Group winners was Linda Spillane. Linda was the oldest athlete in the race – and the only 70-74 finisher, male or female – doing so just a week after winning Gold at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France. Linda also won in Wales two years ago.
