Stuart Dick

Stuart is a graduate of the University of Sunderland with a masters' degree in Sports Journalism. He spends a lot of his time running and cycling around West Yorkshire, England.

Stuart Dick is a professional sports journalist with over 10 years’ experience in the field, with specific content tailored to endurance sports for RUN247 and TRI247 over the past two years.

He graduated from the University of Huddersfield with BA (Hons) in Politics in 2009 before returning to study in 2019 to complete a Masters’ Degree in Sports Journalism from the University of Sunderland, achieving a distinction.

In 2014, Stuart was one of 30 individuals across the country to be selected for the BBC Kick-Off Reporter scheme based at BBC Newcastle. He produced articles for the BBC Sport website including interviews with women’s football star Beth Mead, marathon runner Aly Dixon and numerous other competitors at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Stuart continued as a Freelance Broadcast Assistant with BBC Newcastle and formed part of the BBC Cricket commentary team for the 2018 and 2019 English domestic season, regularly heard on BBC Sport online and BBC 5 Live Sports Extra.

As well as his freelance work at the BBC, Stuart provided content for the Morpeth Herald, News Post Leader, Evening Chronicle, Shields Gazette, Northumberland Gazette and Sunderland Echo as both a sport and news reporter. He also produced NFL content for the Daily Mail during the 2013 season.

Prior to his return to studying in 2019, Stuart obtained vital experience within football. He held the roles of Press Officer at Bedlington Terriers FC, Head of Media at Newcastle United Women’s FC, Head of Media at Morpeth Town FC and Head of Media at Blyth Spartans FC.

He also held the position of Head of Sport at Koast Radio FM in Northumberland, hosting a Friday night sports show, conducted and arranged live football and boxing commentaries, and produced the Saturday afternoon sports show.

Stuart also held the position of Media and Marketing Officer at Tyne Metropolitan College focusing on the organisation’s North East Sports Academies (NESA) with particular emphasis on football, basketball, rugby league, rugby union and netball.

Stuart then progressed – following the completion of his masters’ degree to professional sports with a full-time position at Durham Cricket where he produced social media content, website articles and conducted media duties on behalf of the county cricket club.

He then secured a professional position with respected sports content agency Sport Acuity in April 2020, and has since written for a number of established publications. He was content lead to supply exclusive interviews for the World Curling Federation (WCF), spearheaded NFL content with Squawka and is betting lead for content provided for Racing and Sports UK.

Other organisations Stuart has produced content for include European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), European Club Association (ECA), UEFA, Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO).

His most recent work has been focused on RUN247 and TRI247, producing athlete interviews, race reports and writing athlete profiles – including covering the 2022 Challenge Gran Canaria event on location. Stuart also has ambitions of running a sub two-hour half marathon by the end of 2025.
