Alex Yee will add significant spice to the Super League Triathlon London spectacular on September 4 after being named as a Wildcard for the big event.
Yee was crowned the overall SLT champion in 2021 after prevailing in an incredible finish in Malibu in September. He comes into the event in top form after claiming both Individual and Mixed Relay gold at the Commonwealth Games last month.
The 24-year-old Yee will also renew his epic rivalry with New Zealander Hayden Wilde, who he pipped to gold in Birmingham following a controversial late penalty for the Kiwi. Wilde continues to protest that penalty.
Yee vs Wilde yet again
Wilde it was who claimed the win in London to kick off a fantastic 2021 SLT Championship Series, while Yee could only finish fifth.
A fascinating showdown is heightened further by the presence of Jonny Brownlee, who was forced to miss the Commonwealths due to injuries sustained in the crash which ended his WTCS Leeds bid. A crash that Wilde accepted the blame for.
Yee also crashed out in that same incident in Leeds, and his battles with Wilde have been a highlight of the 2022 elite season so far. While the action on course has been fierce, off it the pair have also built a great mutual respect and friendship.
