REPLAY: Commonwealth Games Triathlon at Birmingham 2022

The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham provided spectacular triathlon action throughout and you were able to follow very second live in our special blog.

We were on hand to cover swim, bike and run in expert detail by providing a little colour to add to your enjoyment of the TV coverage.

Things got under way on Friday July 29 with two eagerly-awaited individual races as Alex Yee claimed the men’s gold and Flora Duffy retained her women’s title.

And Sunday provided more thrilling action as England notched a golden paratri double via Dave Ellis in the PTVI men’s race and teenager Katie Crowhurst in the PTVI women’s race.

It was all rounded off as England powered to victory in the Mixed Relay while Wales took a superb silver

Who was not racing at the Commonwealth Games?

For the first time in 16 long years we have a major Games – Olympic or Commonwealth – without a Brownlee brother involved.

Alistair of course retired from short-course racing after his failed bid to make it to Tokyo for that threepeat bid in 2021.

The injuries Jonny suffered in that high-profile crash at WTCS Leeds in June mean that he too misses out on the massive showpiece event.
