Triathlete Profiles

The sport of triathlon is dominated by some of the world’s finest endurance athletes, and we profile the very best. From the short-course stars who battle for Olympic triathlon glory every four (sometimes three) years to the Ironman behemoths who race over 140.6miles, we have you covered.

Our profiles look at not only the results the stars have produced down the years, but how they got into the sport and made the journey through junior and sometimes age-group racing. For the keen age-groupers out there, we also detail what triathlon gear the pro stars are using right now, from wetsuits to bikes to running shoes.

In women’s pro racing the great Flora Duffy dominates short-course racing right now after that epic Olympic win in Tokyo last summer. Over longer distances the big three of Lucy Charles-Barclay, Daniela Ryf and Anne Haug are being chased by a group of promising challengers.

In men’s racing the long and short (distances) merge as one with Norwegian Olympic Champion Kristian Blummenfelt and his compatriot, double 70.3 World Champion Gustav Iden. They provide an intriguing challenge to modern-day GOAT Jan Frodeno. Throw in the likes of two-time Olympic Champion Alistair Brownlee and a new generation of short-course stars and you have an intoxicating landscape as we go deeper into 2022, whatever the distance.
