The IRONMAN UK & Ireland Tour 2017: In Review

The IRONMAN UK & Ireland Tour 2017

IRONMAN racing on home soil couldn’t be in a stronger position. In 2017 we were treated to seven IRONMAN races in the UK & Ireland, and 2018 is already looking to be another bumper year of racing. As with every year, we have to pay tribute to the ones that we have lost and Sunday 25th June 2017 was the last edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Exmoor, Wimbleball. An iconic event that will be missed.

We have collated our extensive coverage to revisit the 2017 season…

Talking Daytona with Challenge Family CEO Zibi Szlufcik

And news on the future of Challenge Family in the UK too

Yesterday (Wednesday), I was in Daytona, Florida for the press launch of Challenge Daytona (www.challenge-daytona.com). Taking place in December 2018 at the Daytona International Speedway (www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com), home of Daytona 500 – ‘The Great American Race‘ – the event represents the return of the brand to the North American market.

(You can read more about that launch HERE).

I took the opportunity to speak to Zibi Szlufcik, the CEO of Challenge Family about this new venture. As well as talking about Daytona, we also covered The Championship in Samorin and some exciting news on the future of Challenge Family in the UK.

Emma Pallant: “Kona is my goal next year”

“Chattanooga was the highlight of my career”

Great Britain’s Emma Pallant is back in Bahrain for the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship, a race she finished second in 12 months ago.

It’s been a great year for Emma, including World Championship medals of every colour across three different sports. Silver in the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship was the best result of her career, but Emma has further ambitions, for a race that gives her goosebumps. She plans to be racing in Kona at the IRONMAN World Championship on the second Saturday in October next year.

I spoke to Emma on Thursday in Bahrain.
